Timesman Bob Gilham Has Moved

I thought I would write you all to let you know that with the help of Richard Renchard we were able to make contact with Bob Gilham who retired from the Times as a supervisor and his wife Gerta. They are living in Lynnwood, Washington which is about 55 miles or so from where we live on Whidbey Island. We made arrangements to meet half way at a restaurant in Mukiltio where the ferry comes in from Whidbey Isl., they were waiting for us, it seemed like we were getting off a ship after a cruise, they waved at us, it was kind of hard to recognize Bob as he has nothing but white hair now and walks with a limp, hugged hellos.

We had a very nice lunch and talked about the old days and of the people we worked with, I mentioned a lot of names of which yours was mentioned I'm sure, he remembered a lot of you but his memory has faded some as his hearing but his wife remembered quite a bit of names.

After lunch with took a nice walk thru a park along the beach on the Puget Sound and saw the ferries coming and going, we talked some about the old work place and mentioned more names, it brought a smile to his face as he remembered the good times we all used to have at the Times back in his days.

He was sorry to hear of the people that have passed away.

They have been living up here for 4 to 8 years now and they enjoy it. Their son Neil lives here and they wanted to be close to him and their grandson too.

We walked back to the ferry loading area where we waited for the ferry to take us back to Whidbey Isl., talking some more and making plans to meet again before Becky and I head back home to California in early February. They both look real good and said to say hello to all the people that remember him.

A little older but happy, till next time, we hope to get together again.
