Sun-Sentinel offers buyouts to select staffers

Memo from South Florida Sun-Sentinel editor Earl Maucker:

I announced today that we are accepting voluntary separations from a small group of newsroom staffers. During the past few months, I've had a number of newsroom employees ask about the possibility of an early retirement or voluntary separation package, so we are going to accept applications. Those eligible must be 55 years-old or older and have at least 10 years of service with the company. Roughly 15 applications will be accepted. Our Human Resources department is sending packets of information overnight to the homes of qualified employees. Details will be outlined in those packets.

Editors note: Will the Los Angeles Times newsroom be next?
