Jeff Ebenstein for Assembly 2013 District 45

Jeff Ebenstein is a dedicated public servant, currently serving the San Fernando Valley on behalf of L.A. City Councilmember Paul Koretz.

And he’d like your vote to be our next California State Assembly member in District 45.

VALLEY ROOTS

Born in Tarzana and growing up in Woodland Hills and Encino, Jeff Ebenstein is a true Valley guy.

From childhood strolls in Los Encinos Park with his mother to his bar mitzvah at Congregation Valley Beth Shalom to his studies at Pierce College and Cal State Northridge, Jeff has lived and breathed the San Fernando Valley his entire life—as have his parents and their parents.

He gets this place.

But the Valley setting is a deceptively idyllic backdrop for the rocky life journey that led him to public service.

LEARNING LIFE'S LESSONS—THE HARD WAY

Jeff Ebenstein had to grow up early.

When he was eleven, his father died, and from then he was raised by a single mother. They lost their home, health insurance, and life savings. He worked full-time to put himself through college. Later, he would help care for his aging grandparents—one at home hospice with cancer and the other with Alzheimer’s.

These life experiences drove him to public service, because he learned firsthand what it’s like to build a life after losing everything. He learned how the State can help hardworking Californians dealing with the challenges of getting an education, working, and aging.

PUBLIC SERVICE & COMMUNITY ACTIVISM

Ebenstein originally planned to become an educator, and he started out as a teacher’s assistant at Nestle Avenue Elementary in Tarzana.

But he found his true calling serving his community as Valley Deputy for Councilmember Koretz. In this role, he’s been the primary contact in providing assistance to residents, businesses, and community organizations. He’s worked hard to engage Valley residents in policy decisions and to cultivate community leadership to strengthen our neighborhoods. He’s developed a reputation as a passionate advocate of affordable education, access to healthcare and senior services, and helping businesses create jobs.

Residing in Encino with his partner, Heather Rozman—and of course not far from his mother in Woodland Hills!—Ebenstein is also a proud community activist, serving as Vice President of his Neighborhood Council and member of the Executives at the Jewish Home for the Aging. He’s served as an elected member of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party Central Committee—and he’s a member of the Sierra Club, UFCW Local 5, multiple animal-welfare organizations, and Congregation Valley Beth Shalom.

WHY JEFF EBENSTEIN?

Jeff Ebenstein is the only District 45 candidate who combines lifelong neighborhood roots with hands-on experience in making government work for the people.

As our State Assembly member, Ebenstein will be a tough watchdog for the San Fernando Valley’s interests—making sure we get our fair share in senior services, education, and jobs.

How do we know he’ll be tough?

Because he’s learned firsthand how important these issues are to us and our families.

He’s a Valley guy—he's one of us.
