Mega-Conference speakers address the future of newspapers

Mega-Conference speakers address the future of newspapers: Conference speaker Rick Edmonds from the Poynter institute stated that print would not reach the end of its run in the near future; it may be less frequent, however it will take decades for print to truly decline, he said. A clear mission of editorial excellence and relevancy to local readers will keep brands strong, according to Edmonds. Newspapers can serve both print and digital audiences and can reach readers story by story. They can aggregate and rebundle (for newsletters, etc.) and create a complete user experience. Edmonds encouraged attendees to embrace virtual reality, 360 augmented reality, voice apps from Google’s Alexa, video, audio and fine-tuning of paid digital subscriptions, digital marketing services and native ads.
