The Seattle Times aims to sell its printing-press property
in Bothell, the paper reported.
Starting
sometime in the first six months of 2020, the paper will be printed at the
company’s Rotary Offset Press in Kent .
The paper
is selling the print property to fund news operations, it said.
The
facility, which was opened in 1992, prints The Times, USA Today and local
papers for China Daily.
The
23.5-acre facility has the press and three parking lots and usually employs
around 150, the paper said.
Some jobs
will be lost in the move, said Seattle Times president Alan Fisco. The number
of job losses is not yet known, he said, the paper reported. Some Bothell
employees will have an option to move to the Kent facility.
