Publisher Susan Pape said that the company may
sell the building, at 301 Avenue E., site of the paper for almost nine decades.
No asking price is set for the eight-story,
art deco-style property, an attached printing plant and other space, the
Hearst-owned paper says. The property has around 172,000 square feet on
2.1 acres
“The purpose of this is to explore the
development opportunities for this property,” Pape said. “It is in no way
related to a change in our structure, our commitment to the community or the
products that we are going to produce.”
The structure’s top four floors are empty.
Some 300 people work in the building, the paper said.
