I think its time I have a say in my working conditions and have my job protected.

That is, as much "say" as the union will let you have. And just out of curiousity, what are you willing to trade to get what you want? For that matter, what, specifically, is the union going to ask for during contract negotiations if it's voted in? None of the union supporters I've spoken with seem to have a clear idea of what they actually want, just a lot of "pie in the sky, wish things were like they were in the good old days" stuff. About the only thing many union people agree on is that they would like to see the valley pressmen put at the bottom of the seniority list. And before you ask, I'm not from OC or the valley, I'm an Oly "native", a pressman long before most of you union supporters even thought of working in the pressroom. I've kept my opinion to myself up to this point, but enough is enough, I'm tired of the union people accusing the company of being deceptive while the union uses the same tactics. Perhaps the union would gain more support if they were willing to actually show, in writing, exactly what they're going to ask for in negotiations. But that will never happen. Remember all unions are businesses, they have their own agenda, and it just may conflict with the agenda of you union supporters in some situations. Guess which way the push will go if union management, and dues paying union members are butting heads over something? Certainly not in favor of the little guys(us). Let's get this stuff over with and move on, I'm tired of the tension and division that's always a part of these union drives.
