Save Our Trade: Democracy In Action!

Our first General Meeting went well and I was very pleased to see the participation of all attending members. We conducted our meeting under Roberts Rule of Order and those in attendance caught on very quickly.

[CUT]

A motion to pay $70.00 per month was made, and a vote by majority was made against this amount also. A motion to pay $60.00 per month immediately followed, was voted on and approved by majority of the membership in attendance.

"We have many ideas that have potential to help our newspaper economically and are more than willing to share these ideas as well as work with management to implement them. All it requires is management to accept our decision to form a union and cease their campaign against our shops."

In other words you know how to “save” jobs but you’d rather argue with the company and watch our “brothers/sisters" get laid off.

Interesting.............

"In other words", always means your words not mine. I wrote what I wrote and thats what I wrote. Simple. read what I write, not what you want to read.

How interesting is that?

Your words, “All it requires...” means to me that you have chosen to put conditions on your willingness to share the “many ideas that have potential to help our newspaper economically”, and in my words, “and therefore to help the employees of our pressrooms”.

Very interesting.........

Oh and by the way Ronnie.....

“Democracy-in-Action” would be allowing your members to vote on whether you should share your “many ideas that have potential to help our newspaper economically.......”

And that’s very interesting......
