•  Mascoutah-based Better Newspapers has acquired two Illinois newspapers: The Breeze-Courier and The Shopping Spree, both in Taylorville, the Leader-Union reported.

• Virtual.drupa is taking place from April 20 to 23. The event is “positioning itself as a major industry event with renowned exhibitors from around 30 countries, focusing on innovations and future technologies for the global print and packaging community,” says organizers Messe Dusseldorf. The live drupa 2021 printing industry trade fair was canceled due to COVID-19. “We are very pleased about the recent registrations  from outstanding exhibitors and major global players such as HP Inc. and Landa Digital Printing from Israel. Both companies will enrich virtual.drupa with their impressive range of innovations in the field of digital printing technologies and broad range of applications,” said Sabine Geldermann, project director print technologies at Messe Dusseldorf.

The next live event is set for May 28 to June 7, 2024m in Dusseldorf.

• Fujifilm Canada has announced a national distributor agreement with Spicers Canada, a fifth generation family-owned leading distribution company of commercial print and business papers, specialty products, graphic solutions, sign & display media, and industrial packaging products based in Vaughan, Ontario. Under the terms of the agreement, Spicers will act as nationwide distributor for the Graphics Division of FUJIFILM Canada Inc. including its CTP(computer-to-plate) plates and related equipment.

 

• Postmedia Network Canada showed a narrow profit for its fiscal second quarter and a 21 per cent drop in overall revenue, according to results released April 8, the Financial Post reported.

 

• MWM and Gota Media are implementing MWM Print 365 at two printing sites. Both of these printing organizations now rely on MWM Print 365 on daily basis. Gota Media, one of the larger media companies in Sweden, with 30 newspapers and two printing sites, Sydostpressarna and Boras Tidning Tryckeri. Gota Media also use MWM Publishing Calendar for the publishing organizations to plan their daily newspapers and inserts.  With offices in Sweden, Germany and the U.S., MWM provide services to organizations worldwide.

• The public’s idea that news be free should be corrected, a representative of the Taipei Newspapers Association said, recommending that Taiwan’s government help change the perception, the Taipei Times reported.

• Printing company Tryck i Norr is part of the NTM group which is one of the largest media groups for local media in Sweden. Tryck i Norr has used MWM CopyTrack and MWM Production Planning for several years and asked MWM to help automate the invoicing process. In March of 2021 the project started to implement additional modules from MWM Print 365, MWM Pre Production and MWM Post Production.

• Germany’s Axel Springer is bringing the Bild newspaper to television, the company said April 12.wants to launch its own television station before the biggest news event of the year, the federal election.
