 Torstar is investing in and partnering with Curiocity, a Calgary-based lifestyle and entertainment digital publisher. Torstar, which owns the Toronto Star, has taken an equity stake in the company. Curiocity is a digital publisher with a focus on social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook. 

• Digital advertising revenues have surpassed magazine revenue for the first time in Meredith's history, the company reports. Digital advertising grew 31 percent. Additionally, Meredith's licensing and digital and other consumer driven revenues grew 27 percent and 25 percent, respectively.

• Subscriptions to Bloomberg Media grew by 34% in the first half of 2021, reaching more than 325,000, according to an internal memo gotten by Axios.  

• Bonnier News Local and Gota Media have bought Skanska Dagbladet (Malmo, Sweden), says Global Legal Chronicle. Consolidation is a current trend in the Swedish local newspaper sector, says the legal publication. 

• Forbes has launched Forbes Ecuador, in partnership with HT Media. The edition is published in association with Praisemark Cia and Carlos Mantilla, who’s serving as editor-in-chief.  

• Things are happening with Maryland hotel mogul Stewart Bainum Jr.’s plan for a nonprofit news launch in Baltimore, says Poynter. Postings on the Jooble site are in search of executives to plan a news startup for Baltimore.
