Local TV owns and operates eight local news and features channels.
TalkTV has agreed a commercial partnership that sees it share content with Leeds-based Local TV.
Local TV owns and operates eight local channels in the UK covering Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Liverpool, North Wales, Teesside and Tyne and Wear. The company has been majority owned by David Montgomery – now also running National World – since 2017.
Under the new deal TalkTV began exclusively providing national programming across the Local TV network, which the companies claimed reaches five million homes or 18% of all UK television households, from New Year’s Day.
Richard Wallace, director of television at News Broadcasting, said: “TalkTV is reaching more and more people when and where they want to view our content; whether that be online, via the app, social media, streaming services or on linear TV. This partnership allows us to bring a national perspective to Local TV’s brilliant hyper-focused content on Freeview and Virgin Media.”
Local TV chief executive Lesley Mackenzie said: “Talk TV is the most innovative UK broadcaster and Local TV Ltd is proud to deliver its national shows, featuring Piers Morgan and a host of other stars, to our network of local stations.”
