Los Angeles Times Festival of Books

The last time I volunteered for the Festival of books was in 2008, while it was held at UCLA, in 2009 the Tribune Company decided hourly workers such as myself could no longer volunteer. It was explained to me by a Tribune manager that the company was concerned an hourly worker might ask for back pay, even though we volunteered freely.

My paperwork arrived today and I have been accepted as a volunteer for this years event at USC, and will be volunteering on Saturday April 21^st from 11:30 am till 6:00 pm. Not certain where I’m working or what I will be doing, it’s just nice to be allowed to volunteer once again.
