Following the announment of the sale of two newspapers, The Advocate (Stamford) and the Greenwich Time to Gannett Company, the Tribune Company plans to retain the remainder of the newspapers it now owns.
After surpassing the goal of selling off $500 million in assets not considered vital to its long-range plans.
Tribune owns 11 newspapers, as well as 26 television stations, most of which are affiliated with the new CW Network (formed when the WB and UPN networks were shut down prior to the current television season). The company also owns the Chicago Cubs baseball team.
