This groundbreaking documentary traces the
explosive emergence of multi-ethnic, modern Los Angeles during the single-family reign of
four publishers of the Los Angeles Times. Each used the newspaper to pursue
distinct agendas and impossible dreams, transforming the composition and
character of Southern California itself; in
the process, seducing a nation and the world with a new kind of American Dream.

An excellent documentary on the Chandler family, I was impressed. Lots of shots of the old pressroom with many familiar faces of old friends and co-workers. Especially poignant was the part on young Norman Chandler. I got to know him a little while he was doing his stint in the pressroom. The last conversation we had was about his wife having a baby soon. The picture of him "operating" K press, I was standing next to the photographer making stupid faces. LOL
