Where's The Blogging Pressman?

I'm often asked why I'm not blogging everyday, some days I'm moving tons of food, and too exhausted afterwards to do much more than read. Tuesday I moved 25,000 pounds of donated food, which kept me busy for just under ten hours.

All of this food will be given away over the next few weeks to our clients that visit Sowing Seeds for Life, so it's all worth the extra effort by all the volunteers.

We're always seeking volunteers, if your interested in helping, come by 1350 Arrow Highway, La Verne, CA. 91750 from 10;30A.M. to 4:00 P.M. or call 909.392.5777

Stamp Out Hunger 2015 a Success

Last Saturday the volunteers from Sowing Seeds For Life moved 32,800 pounds of food that was donated by the residents of La Verne and Claremont. The mail carriers arrived with their trucks jammed packed with bags of food that were left at mail boxes around the country.

Our friends at Shepherd's Pantry in Glendora moved 22,000 pounds of food, and everyone involved is feeling the affects of moving so much food, with sore muscles.

A big thank you to the postal workers that were so helpful, and all the volunteers that made this a success.

Mary and Tajha both work full time jobs, yet find the time to volunteer

As the food crisis intensifies across America many families have been able to bridge the gap by visiting local food banks, such as Sowing Seeds For Life. Depending on weather conditions and the cars snaking down Arrow Highway we will distribute food to anywhere from 550 to 650 families today. The only requirement for receiving food, you must reside in Los Angeles County.

Food Bank Open Today in La Verne, CA. - Sowing Seeds For Life

The food bank will be open today from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm with many changes to be put into place this afternoon. As the need for food has increased, so has the traffic, which is causing problems for the neighboring businesses.

Unfortunately the La Verne Police Department has had to come out three times over the last two months to control the traffic that backs up onto Arrow Highway.

The volunteers are gathering at 8:00 am to pre-box and bag food to keep the crowd moving as quickly as possible, as many of our clients are handicapped or elderly.

A third security guard will be employed to keep our visitors from clogging the parking lots of the businesses next door to us, which impacts their customer flow.

The La Verne Police Department has been extremely helpful, and only requests we keep the streets clear outside of our parking lot.

As a volunteer for Sowing Seeds For Life but ten months I have watched as the crowds of hungry American's has continually gown each time we have our food pantry.

Let's hope for the best today and see how our brainstorming plays out?
