Mary and Tajha both work full time jobs, yet find the time to volunteer

As the food crisis intensifies across America many families have been able to bridge the gap by visiting local food banks, such as Sowing Seeds For Life. Depending on weather conditions and the cars snaking down Arrow Highway we will distribute food to anywhere from 550 to 650 families today. The only requirement for receiving food, you must reside in Los Angeles County.

Burgers and Bibles on Skid Row Los Angeles Tonight

The ELEV8 Teen Integrity Program not only encourages students to avoid risky behaviors and pursue their dreams but also calls them to action to serve the homeless. Chick-fil-a sponsors Burgers and Bibles, the homeless outreach founded by ELEV8 speaker, Brittney Sharaun.



Through my travels of life, I cross paths with many groups that venture out to the mean streets of Skid Row Los Angeles to help the fellow Americans living on the streets, either by passing out food, cleaning the streets, or donating clothing.

Tonight I will be joining Burgers and Bibles on Skid Row to distribute sandwiches donated by Chick-Fil-a, and prepared at McDonald's on Seventh and Alameda at 7:30 p.m., feel free to join us.

Reading about the homeless issue across our country is one thing, being there is a completely different experience.

Parents, make this your confession for today. I bind the spirit of fear concerning any harm coming to my children, for God has not given me the SPIRIT of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. God has given angels charge over my children to keep them in all their ways. Nothing by any means shall harm them. They WILL live and not die and declare the works of the Lord. In their pathway is life and there is NO death in Jesus name. AMEN! (Psalm 91, 2 Timothy 1:7, Psalm 118:17, Proverbs 12:28)

 

The Bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs. 22:6)...So as our children enter a new school year, REST in Gods promises & have as much faith in yourself as Jesus has in you. When you pray, BELIEVE. (Mark 11:24) Then take the corresponding action! (James 2:17).

Young Broke and Talented Apparel Helping the Homeless

I cross paths with many men and women on my daily adventure called life, and some come to mind often while others are hard to remember. As I scanned Facebook a few weeks ago my daughter Margaret left a comment on a page, that grabbed my attention quickly, by Juan Garcia. Juan and his friends visit Skid Row every Sunday distributing clothing for the men and women that live and try to survive on the meanest looking streets of Los Angeles every Sunday morning.

On Sunday March 24th I volunteered to help Juan and his group, and was pleased to see not only clothing and shoes given out, but water as well. The four cases of water didn't last long as the streets are completely full of many in need. One lady was in tears and Juan quickly embraced her with a hug as well as Tony, the young adults in this group have very big hearts and not only talk about love but freely give love to anyone in need, and there are many just wanting a hug or a hand shake.

If you have never helped on Skid Row I highly recommend doing so, it's a very fulfilling experience and helps one to appreciate how well off you are.
