Apple News+ launches with more than 300 magazines

Apple has launched Apple News+, a subscription service that brings together over 300 magazines and digital publishers in the Apple News app. Available in the U.S. and Canada, Apple News+ includes publications such as Vogue, National Geographic Magazine, People, Elle, The Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times.
The service has free and paid components. The paid service costs $9.99 a month.
“At Hearst Magazines, we are hyperfocused on creating consumer value through our storied brands, high-quality content and great experiences,” said Troy Young, president of Hearst Magazines. “Apple News+ amplifies our ability to do this in a premium environment with a key audience, elevating the digital magazine experience for millions of iPhone, iPad and Mac users.”
The Verge reports that, according to an internal memo from Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal will feature just “a specially curated collection of general interest news from The Wall Street Journal” on Apple News+, instead of the daily business news that’s the paper’s hallmark. The Verge points out that WSJ is the app’s most high-profile newspaper addition.
The launch comes on the heels of Apple’s recent buy of the Texture app.
