Winning at the Race of Life shared an album: A Place Called Skid Row.

There are a lot of people in need in our own backyards and across the country. According to a recent Los Angeles Times article, tens of thousands of homeless people make Los Angeles the regions fastest-growing homeless population with 6,500 being entire families! A Place Called Skid Row

We are providing appx. 300 fresh, hot meals for the homeless on skid row. We are told there are over 5,000 living on the streets in Los Angeles alone. In this challenging economy, you are helping us make a big difference to those who are in desperate need. Many of the homeless asked for their picture to be taken in hopes to help Winning at the Race of Life receive more funding for this project. They really look forward to seeing "brother Sammy" and our Winning Team to get a barbecued meal, clothing, bibles, live music, fellowship & prayer.  "Growing up with divorced, alcoholic and abusive parents, I turned to drugs and alcohol at a early age. With no discipline and the freedom to do whatever I wanted, alcohol and drugs became my way of life. On Dec 5th, 1985 at the age of 17, I felt as if the only way out was to end my life, I bought a 12 pack of beer and stood overlooking a 250 foot cliff. I began thinking and said to myself “What a relief it would be for my parents to know that the mistake they had once made in me, was no longer around.” As I stood looking down, I heard a voice, I turned to look back and saw a police officer standing as he said “It’s not worth it please don’t do it.” I then looked at him and said “I’m sorry” and then I JUMPED!

 Little did I know I would jump into the arms of a angel that the Good Lord Above would send to me. Falling and tumbling down to the bottom, I was helicoptered to a hospital with Doctors saying “This one will not live.” I slipped into a comma and began the fight of my life, having to learn to walk, talk and write again, having many broken bones to heal, remarkably 2 years of rehab later and with nothing but scars to show, I made a full recovery.

 This is when health and fitness came into my life and 25 years later has made a difference in me thinking how life is so precious. I want my story to help those people around the world who are leading that same dark path that I once choose and to reach out to the parents, simply put “Children See, Children Do.” I grew up not caring about life, health and fitness changed my way of thinking and SAVED MY LIFE!"

Meet Buddy: A testimony about the saving power of Jesus

All week we've been sharing video testimony from our AWESOME team. Last November we held a charity fundraiser and a beautiful 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle hotrod was given away to help raise much needed funds to support our various outreach programs. What many of you may not know is the AMAZING testimony from the cars previous owner. Meet Buddy. He is one of the biggest givers you will ever meet. A few years back he was shot multiple times and in the face at point blank range in front of his 10 year old son by a man who had just murdered three people. Jesus saved him and he forgave that man. Buddy gives back to thousands in need by volunteering countless hours helping us help others. Listen to his POWERFUL story... in his own words.

One day while walking around the Long Beach Swap Meet, Tony Pellegrino met one of our WINNING at the Race of Life team members -Buddy Bellflower. After Buddy told him about how he and our team feed the homeless, put on community outreach events and mentorship programs for kids, Tony made a decision to make a small donation. Like many people in todays economy, Tony had also been challenged by hard times and like many of you, when asked to help those in need during the holiday season- he said YES! Listen to what happened next when he received a phone call from Hollywood producer John Cameron that he had just WON a beautiful $70k+ hotrod!

That's exactly what happened to Tony Pellegrino from Huntington Beach California. Tony never won anything before, but last summer, when asked to make a $20 donation to help Hollywood stuntman and his Winning at the Race of Life team mentor kids and feed the homeless on skid row in Los Angeles, he said, "Sure!"
