Subject: Message from Mike Bourgon/New Benefits Update
We want to let you know that Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) is making an important tool available to Tribune employees interested in obtaining additional information about the company’s 2012 medical benefit plans. Beginning today, you can get assistance in estimating your health care expenses for the coming year, which will help you decide which benefit plan is right for you and your family.
This new tool is called the “Health Plan Cost Estimator” and you can find it on the right-hand side of the BCBS website. You can access it by following these easy steps:
· Go to: http://bcbsil.com/getting_started/how_to_shop/costs.html
· Enter “Tribune1” as the passcode (make sure you enter a capital “T”), and click “GO”
· The next screen will be the “Health Plan Cost Estimator” tool, which will ask you to set up profiles for you and your family members and answer questions about your health, use of prescription medication, how much you might contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA),” or “Flexible Spending Account”
· Once you’ve entered all the necessary information, the tool will display and compare your relative health care expenses under both the BCBS Traditional PPO Plan and the BlueEdgeSM HSA Plan
We urge you to take advantage of this unique tool before we begin the open enrollment process on Nov. 7th —it will ease your decision-making process and help you make the right choices for you and your family.
Mike Bourgon
VP/Human Resources
