Bob began his newspaper career at the Times in 1948 as an apprentice pressman, and earned his way to pressroom crew supervisor before deciding on a career change some twenty years ago. Bob works in edition planning now and has no plans on taking a buyout or retiring anytime soon.
Known to his friends in the pressroom as Baggy, he is an icon at the newspaper and has witnessed future shock firsthand in his sixty plus years of continuous service to the company.
Bob's son, Ron Bagwell, works at the Olympic Production Facility as an electro-tech.

He was the man. So smart. I meet him twice. Big part of LA Times newspaper production history. What 50 + years? Sorry to hear of his passing. He was a huge part of how the pressroom would line up the presses being most efficient and taking care of the advertisers who bought ads. And challenge us as press operators and to make it work. I was there. You are a legend. Hey Larry. Hope you and your family are safe and understand how important your dad was to the history of the production of Los Angeles Times newspaper.
