Philippine journalist Maria Ressa, who was held overnight
last Wednesday by the Philippines National Bureau of Investigation, calls the
nation’s case against her unconstitutional, CNN reported.
Ressa is CEO of news site Rappler and has been
critical of Philippines
Ressa was arrested after a "cyber
libel" charge was filed against her website, based on a 2012 article. The
article was headlined “CJ using SUVs of 'controversial' businessmen,” and
involves the chief justice of the Philippine supreme court.
Ressa worked for CNN before she founded
Rappler.
"I think it's definitely intimidation for
me to spend one night in detention," she told CNN's Brian Stelter on
"Reliable Sources" Sunday. "I came out of that night thinking
this is now a travesty of justice."
