Southern Tier Hemp buys former Gannett printing plant

Southern Tier Hemp announced Feb. 5 that it’s buying a former Gannett printing plant in Johnson City, New York. The 100,000-square-foot facility will become the headquarters for Southern Tier Hemp as the company develops, manufactures and sells hemp cannabidiol (CBD) products worldwide, according to the company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Southern Tier Hemp's headquarters will be the largest hemp processing facility in New York State, according to the company.
The company will hire more than 100 workers at its new location during the next three years, according to a release on the facility. Its processing facility will produce a range of CBD products including superfoods, body care creams, supplements and lotions. The company was awarded a $650,000 grant from New York State for hemp development, which will be used towards the construction of the processing center, the company says.
The facility formerly printed the Press & Sun-Bulletin, the Elmira Star-Gazette and The Ithaca Journal.
