All those beautiful palms and greenery are no longer! What a shame!!!! Someone should be punished.

Perhaps you could make a deal and tend to them on your breaks for a NOMINAL FEE! Or post a scathing blog about those responsible, to let them know the little man takes pride not only in his work, but in his work environment as well.

Hmmm

The Date palms located at the entrance of the building have a value of at least 10k each . Water is cheap. You are lucky OC is alot worse than this . The parking lot is freeze dried weeds .

chicago tribune to reduce workforce by an additional 120 people due to poor revenue performance. Are trees and shrubs really that important? Get real. Save money any way you can or your job may be next!!!!!!!

Whatever happened to "Best in Times?" That was the group of LA Times employees that went around doing charity work. They would do things like paint the house of a poor family, build ramps for the handicapped and do yard work for the invalid.
If we can find them, maybe they would be willing to help with the gardening or fix stuff around Oly and OC.

Everybody take a deep breath and relax. Here are the facts, not speculation. The main water pump went out for the sprinkler system, that is why the grass hasn't be watered. Pump is being replaced this weekend. We parted ways with our old landscaping company, a new one starts this Monday. We had someone look at the palm trees, it is not lack of water, they have a fungus that can and will be treated next week. I appreciate all the ideas, here is mine. Tell your supervisor about it and we will fix it.

Thanks,

Russ.

I believe the facilities people tend to the grounds besides there regular duties. They trim trees, mow the lawn. Yet are not specialised in checking the sprinklers periodically. Maybe the security department---- can handle the sprinklers as they make there rounds among the facility.

"chicago tribune to reduce workforce by an additional 120 people due to poor revenue performance." - (This statement is referring to the Chicago Tribune newspaper, not the Los Angeles Times.)
"Are trees and shrubs really that important? Get real. Save money any way you can or your job may be next!!!!!!!" - (The wisdom in this statement is self-evident, we all need to work more efficiently, this is one of the facts of today's business world.)

The plants on the balcony outside the cafeteria has started to come back to life, because I started watering.

If everyone at each plant would take it upon themselves to care for one area of plants, we would see some positive results.

When walking from your car to the entrance, pick up a piece of trash.

We can make a difference.

"Everybody take a deep breath and relax". Hummmmmmmmm.....

Maybe the "Trib" folks don't understand what it's like to have been the "best of the best" and now, we're just like all the rest!

I remember "Valley Pride", I remember "clean white" buildings with green grass!!!

Oh well.... just remember, change is good! (for who?)

Update to all the folks concerned about the grass at Olympic. Thanks to the maintenance folks who braved the heat this weekend to replace/repair the failed pump that led to the dead grass and all the angst on this blog. Sprinklers are working and everything will start to green up again.

That is a great philosophy to live one's life by! How many of us can truly say we conduct ourselves in this manner? (And before anyone asks, I do try to live that way, but it's difficult and I am only human.)
