Subject: Redesigned Classified Section Debuts Monday

(Managers and supervisors: Please share this with employees who do not have e-mail. Thanks.)

April 28, 2006

Colleagues:

We launch the redesigned Classified section next week, and I want to make sure you have the inside story on this strategic, competitive action. The redesigned section debuts Monday, May 1 with a streamlined look, consistent branding, a bright "classified red" color and new navigation on the front - all of which make it more user-friendly and approachable. The daily Classified section will wrap the other classified sections (except for Wednesday when Hwy 1 is the wrap), so it will be a neat, portable package that readers can pull out and keep.

Starting May 7, the Sunday Classified section will change from broadsheet to a tabloid wrap. Inside the Sunday wrap will be the standard format Cars and CareerBuilder sections.

To promote the new Classified section, we're running extensive in-paper promotion (including a full-run spadea around Main News on May 7), a reader contest (giving away a trip a week for five weeks), a commercial on KTLA, some radio traffic spots and rack headers, all complemented by online support.

Look for it this Monday, and let me know if you have any comments about the changes.

Jeff

Dear Mr. Johnson,

I do indeed have an email address, can I be added to the mailing list so I can have access to information in a timely manner? Our supervisors in the pressroom are too busy to read and or share emails with the rank and file employees.

Thank you,

Edward
