About this blog and The Pressmens Club
The blog was started to talk about issues impacting the pressroom both positively and negatively. The views expressed here are not of the LA Times, but of each individual's opinion. The Pressmen's Club is composed of men and women who have printed the paper for twenty years or more. Semi-annual dinners are held in March and October. See Ed Padgett for more information.

Now that I have a son-in-law in the Army the impact of the sacrifices made by all veterans, young and old, has become a reality for me. My son-in-law, Sgt. Thomas O. Wedding, is already a veteran of the Iraq War. He will return to Iraq on August 8, 2006 just 4 months after marrying my daughter. He is only 23 years old.
I know that many, many of our young men and women have lost their lives in several wars since the founding of our country. I pray that God keeps them, and the young people currently serving overseas, close to his heart. And, I thank each and every one of them for their service and the sacrifices they have made for us here in the United States.
Although it was another working day for most, I would like to extend my gratitude to those of us who have working military and that of the past....a big "WHOah" to the men and women serving us well.
