I read with interest that the New York Times will be cutting an inch and a half from their newsprint, on LAObserved, and not wanting the Easterners to out do the Los Angeles Times we will be cutting our newspaper down by one and three quarters inches.
The Los Angeles Times currently uses 49.75 inch rolls of newsprint, and the cut down will have the newspaper at 48 inches.
The newsprint cut down project at the Los Angeles Times begins on September 16th, 2007, and the first reduced width newspapers will be published sometime in October. The savings in newsprint will be substantial for all newspapers, and some are even going to a smaller format, forty-six inch widths.
At this rate, all newspapers may become tabloids one day.

Yes, even the OC Weekly has reduced it's over all size. There are also fewer pages than there have been in the past!
